Dr. Elizbeth Logsdon directs the BME Design Studio on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Dr. Logsdon has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level. To this end, she taught courses ranging from Biomechanics & Biotransport to Senior Biomedical Engineering Design to Ethics for Biomedical Engineers. Dr. Logsdon brings experience in team-based-learning and flipping-the-classroom strategies. She has mentored high school, undergraduate and graduate students who have continued on to successful positions in academia, medicine and industry. Juan R. Garcia is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He serves as director of the Facial Prosthetics Clinic within the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine, and teaches ophthalmological illustration, medical sculpture and anaplastology. As director of the Facial Prosthetics Clinic, Mr. Garcia crafts custom-made prosthetic substitutes for missing facial and somatic anatomy. This involves creating non-weight bearing silicone appliances for the face and body. These devices are attached to the affected area via adhesives, magnetic components, or an osseointegrated implant system. Additional services provided include: custom ocular prostheses, custom surgical guides using CT scans, surface laser scans, custom silicone implants, medical models and rapid prototyped models. At the Carnegie Center, Juan is the director of the 3D printing core services.

Youseph Yazdi, PhD, MBA, joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2009 and the Carey Business School in 2011. He is the Executive Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design, a center focused on training leaders in medtech innovation and commercialization. He is also Director of the Coulter Translational Research Partnership, established in 2011, which supports translational medical innovations emerging from collaborations between BME faculty and School of Medicine clinicians.
